Sanford Spinners announce move to Lee County High School
The Sanford Spinners Baseball Club has officially selected Lee County High School as its new home field beginning with the 2026 summer season.
After evaluating logistics, long-term operational needs, and overall fit within the community, the organization determined that Lee County High School provides the right environment for the next phase of Spinners baseball. The move keeps the team rooted in Sanford and Lee County while positioning the club for continued growth within the Old North State League.
A central component of this transition is a facility investment led by the Sanford Spinners. The organization will fund brand-new backstop netting, batting cage netting, and pitching tunnel netting at the field. These upgrades are intended to be completed prior to the start of the Lee County High School Yellow Jackets’ season and represent a meaningful enhancement to the safety, functionality, and overall quality of the facility. The improvements are designed to benefit Lee County High School’s program as well as the broader baseball community that utilizes the field.
In coordination with the Old North State League and Lee County High School administration, the Spinners are also exploring the installation of advanced camera technology at the field. Pending final approvals and logistical coordination, this system would provide automated game filming capabilities to support player development, scouting, and expanded viewing access, and could potentially be utilized by both the Spinners and the Yellow Jackets. Additional information will be shared once details are finalized.
As the team turns the page to a new home field, the Spinners want to express sincere gratitude to Lee County, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Parks and Recreation Director Joseph Keel, the Southern Lee High School Baseball Program, and Coach Tommy Harrington for their hospitality and support over the past several years. Tramway Park and Southern Lee High School have served as home to the Spinners since the organization’s launch in 2020. The cooperation, flexibility, and partnership shown during that time helped establish the foundation of the program and allowed the team to grow into what it is today.
The Spinners’ season runs from early June through the end of July, bringing collegiate wooden bat baseball to Sanford each summer.
